Marla Alexander-Ward
LL.B, BA (Otago) 2008
Marla was born and raised in Hawke’s Bay. She graduated from Otago University in 2008 with a double degree in Law and Political Science. Her last year of study was completed on exchange in Prague and Amsterdam. Her love of travel took her to many places while working on the superyachts and at a French ski resort.
She returned to Hawke’s Bay and began her career in Family Law at the beginning of 2012. She has gained a wide range of experience in Family Law and enjoys acting for parties from all walks of life. This includes assisting in matters of parenting and guardianship, family violence, care and protection, paternity, protection of property rights and Wills. Marla also practices as Lawyer for Child in the Family Court.
In her spare time, you might catch Marla playing at the beach with her young daughters, at a yoga class or relaxing with friends at her favourite café.

Marta Black
LL.B (Hons) (Waikato) 2019
Marta is a senior solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team, with a particular focus on civil litigation and relationship property disputes. Marta has a first-class honours degree in law. She joined the team at Willis Legal in early 2022 after spending two years as a judges clerk at the Christchurch High Court.
In her spare time, she enjoys all the beautiful outdoor activities the Hawke’s Bay has to offer, in particular the beaches!
